Repertoire for IVM 2009 Summer Course

You will be able to choose your own repertoire for the Song Recital, Opera Aria and Cabaret courses and we will let you know when to submit your choices to us.  Remember that although you will be singing in two song classes you may also bring a reserve song which you will be able to study in class if time permits. You should also take care to choose an opera aria which is suitable a full half hour session with a director so that you get the very best out of your time.

IVM chooses opera scenes to be studied and performed and our initial selection from which we will make our final choices has now been published.  Every year we spend a huge amount of time and effort to make sure that every student has the opportunity to sing a suitable role and to challenge themselves.  Few other schools have such a degree of commitment to each and every student.  Many do not even guarantee that every student will perform.  This is not to say that we always get it completely right for absolutely every student.  Our aim in this matter is always to improve and to do everything we can to stretch and challenge everyone who attends one of our courses.  We intend to approach the hugely challenging puzzle that is casting from a slightly different angle this year.  We have published a long list of scenes which we will hone down as more and more applications come in.  This we way we plan as much as possible to suit our final repertoire choices to the singers on the course.  Before we begin casting we will be sending participants a questionaire to help us find you a role which you will find suitable, enjoyable and challenging.
